Devon Tayler is an Edmonton-based writer and performer. She is a big fan of being outdoors, running, pulling weeds, and walking quickly to an Improv class or a show.

Flyboy: From There and Back Again is the first show Devon has written. She is thrilled to be telling a family story that was unknown until 2022.

Devon believes story telling weaves the fabric of all human relationships with all of creation: without story who would we be?

Beyond excited to be creating the story of FlyBoy with a crew of fine folk, Devon is honoured to be telling a family story amongst all the tellers of tales at the Edmonton Fringe.

Meet the amazing Ground Crew, bringing John’s story to life on the Fringe stage!

Katy Czajkowski (she/they) is a blood-sucking improviser, sleepy dancer, budding stand-up, and punk-ass book jockey.

With over ten bloody years of niche disability anecdotes, she churns medical trauma into giggles with retrospect at the speed of light. She hopes you walk out of Fly Boy eager to grab a cup of tea with your parents, grandparents, and elders to ask them every question about their lives while they are still with you.

A story carries a different kind of truth when told by the person who lived it.

Matthew Leddy is an Edmonton-based musician, improviser, and community-member.

He was born on the Northside but now lives South. When he is not busy reading with his cats, he is gardening, or volunteering with Hope Lives Here, an animal rescue-organization he loves dearly.

He joined the FlyBoy team out of a deep admiration and respect for his co-workers and the importance of keeping stories alive.

Wes Montey (they/he) is an Edmonton-based digital artist, designer, writer, public speaker, and all-around arts enthusiast.

They are a big fan of the improv world and take the opportunity to jump in wherever they can. When not out in the arts, they spend time at home with many fur-babies, their kids, and partner – mostly just doing what they are doing for FlyBoy – playing around in digital & audio design. Yeah, they are just THAT dedicated!

They are SUPER excited to be taking flight with FlyBoy: From There & Back Again at this year’s Edmonton Fringe!

Rob Wall (he/him) is making his return to the Fringe after 44 years when, as a mere downy-faced youth, he appeared as Queen Clytemnestra’s Lover in “Agamemnon” at the first Edmonton Fringe Festival.

During that extended hiatus, he has been a student, soldier, podcaster, actor, web developer, photographer, and career educator/improvisor/raconteur (ie a school teacher).

Currently he spends his days wandering thrift shops for intriguing used books, occupying coffee shops, or sitting in his underground lair with his monocle, Persian cat, and plans for world conquest.

Laura Eby (they/she; ‘ee-bee’) is an Edmonton-based teacher, performer, RPG-er and adorer of the arts in all its forms.

She’s especially enthralled with improv, comedy, and storytelling (particularly when they come together as one). When not out in a theatre, gallery, in the classroom or on a stage, they spend time at home or adventuring with her beloved senior pup Riley discovering new trails, or hosting D&D and game nights.

Telisa Courtney (they/them) is an Edmonton-based musician, improviser, and co-founder of Unstuck Improv.

Telisa is a researcher at the University of Alberta with a focus on the way art can provoke personal and societal change. Outside of the arts, Telisa is a yoga teacher, runner, cat-parent, and table-top gamer.

They can’t wait to watch FlyBoy unfold and welcome you to this year’s Fringe.

John Battye (he/him) is a multimedia performer, teacher, and life-long theatre artist.

He is the co-founder of Unstuck Improv and loves spreading the joy of improv to anyone who will let him. As a dramaturge, he is fascinated by how personal stories can provoke community-level reactions and is very excited to see that happen in FlyBoy: From There & Back Again at this year’s Edmonton Fringe.
